Emma
Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, was born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both attorneys. When she moved to Oxfordshire around the age of five, Emma attended The Dragon School. Emma was only six when she made the decision to be an actor. She studied for a number of years in Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a part time theatre school in Oxford where she was taught acting as well as singing. At the age of 10, she had performed and taken as the main character in several Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000), the film adaptation from J.K. Rowlings bestselling novel was filmed for the first time at the beginning of 1999. Emma was discovered by agents via her Oxford teacher. After eight auditions consistently, producer David Heyman told Emma and fellow applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they were cast to play the three leads Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. The debut of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's cinematic screen debut. This film was 2001's highest earning film, smashing records during the opening day and first weekend. The film was praised by critics who praised the film and particularly the young performers. The Daily Telegraph, a widely read British newspaper, was awed by her for her performance. Emma got five nominations in recognition of her exceptional performance. In the end, she received the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actresses of a Film.
